Household help

We are the staff. We keep this house in order.

It's a full time job.

We inspect floors.

And windows.

We dust.

We pride ourselves on our standards of work.

That's why we're called domestic animals.

We are entitled to regular breaks.

And nourishing snacks between meals.

With liquid refreshments.

Shop Steward keeps an eye out for any attempt to exploit the workers.

We know our rights.

  4. You are beautiful little helpers. We are glad you know your rights ;o)

  5. Delightfully observed; however, I do hope news of such rights do NOT make it to this household. For some time, the house has an air of utter abandonment due to me albut living in the garden attempting to get on top of things. With nothing achieved there this winter, the wonderful weather we currently have is time to "steal a march".

Still, it has given my feline warriors a good deal of amusement, they observe with wonder! OllieV

  6. I trust you have a Works Council in position to oversee the working conditions and contractual obligations of both management and employees .
Sufficient time during the working week must be given for meetings and training in procedural matters .
Whiskas Treats an optional extra . Or , in the case of the management , lemon curd tarts .

  7. Works Council? Ha! This crew are anarchists; they oppress their would-be manager with their demands for bonuses and more holidays, and are out on strike at the first opportunity. The dog offered to act as chief arbitrator in any industrial disputes, and they sneered, just sneered.....

  8. I guess that's why they say that
Dogs have masters and Cats have slaves!! I miss having a cat and I miss our lovely Jess dog . . . not sure I want a dog again real soon though. Perhaps we will get ourselves a kitten when we return from our Canadian trip this summer...

  10. Rupert is horrified by this post. In no way does he consider himself "household help".
He says he would not like to live up north if that's the way things are done there.

  11. ooh, aren't they cheeky....

know their rights...demand them...and get them!

  12. Good to know the moggies are in tune with the national mood. Are you expecting a Spring of Discontent? Have they joined Unite? Everyone else seems to be a member.

  13. They are so cute and seem to take their jobs seriously.

  14. They are so scary. I wouldn't want to meet them on a dark night.

  15. I wish I had such help here: my 2 girls are useless!!!

  16. I think it's you that's the staff...

What are they drinking? Nectar? Our don't drink except from the tap - well, very occasionally from their water bowl and of course frequently from the bird bath. The drinking photo looks like an advert for milk or whatever it is. Kattowater.

  17. Fran - they are serious trip hazards on a dark night, but otherwise not scary at all (you'll have to imagine the hurt and defensive tone I'm using here - my babies! maligned!!). Big softies, all of them, especially Scooter and Hamish, who are afraid of their own shadows.....

Isabelle - of course I'm the staff - or slave - but I like to keep up the pretence that I'm not really so downtrodden.

  18. Oh dear! Don't send those inspectors here. I fear my floors, and certainly my windows, would not be up to their standards!

  19. How come your rescue cats have a better work ethic than mine? You just can't get the staff down South.

  20. I just thought I'd let Scooter and Hamish know that if they want to keep reading me they may have to unfollow Being Miss and start following Being Me as I've changed the blog name and address. Tell them I'm really sorry to be a pain and I hope they'll continue reading.
