This post has been removed by the author; I am concerned that its subject, now a young man, may not have the same version of events as I have. 'Truth' is subjective, after all, and although I know my truth of the story as I experienced it, I would not wish to cause distress or offence to him or his relatives by leaving it in this blog. So out of respect to him and the beliefs he holds, the account that prompted so many of you to respond has been deleted.
How beautiful, and it's true that love never dies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfully heart-warming thing to read. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteKeep well and I hope you were able to meet up with your sister....
What a great adventure the three of you together are having. Love conquers all.
ReplyDeleteI can hardly see to type through the tears - what an incredibly moving story. I am so pleased that the wound in your heart can now heal. Love, Anne
ReplyDeleteTears welled up in my eyes as I read of your unexpected reunion with this lovely young man. Oh, I'm so happy for you! You'll have a wonderful time indeed with your two found little peapods!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written. Heart felt, and now it's your time to be loved like that too I think...
ReplyDeleteWarmth , love and stability are vital if a child is to thrive and you provided that for these two little boys as long as you could .That they are now doing well is , in great part , thanks to you and their childminder and it's lovely to hear that they're in contact again .
ReplyDeleteNot knowing how they were must have been devastating .
I hope their mother has rebuilt her life and can enjoy her sons' success .
Oh my goodness Rachel, I really don't know what to say in response to this wonderful post, apart from I'm so, so glad for you all that you made the effort to keep in touch via the pictures, and that it was remembered. Heart-warming and wonderful.

That was so lovely, my eyes filled with tears. You never know in life where or who you might touch. What impressions you'll leave. The significance of your message and CD was very much noticed - and now a new chapter begins.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow. How wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYou have blessed and been blessed in return. Three cheers for love!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for you to connect with your peapods! Your CDs delivered the message of love and hope, and I'm so glad they touched these young men who could have so easily grown up to be indifferent and cynical.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you. It brought a tear to my eye. It's like a happy ending in a movie.
ReplyDeleteWonderful. I'm so happy for you and for the boys. They have never forgotten what a good friend you are.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, was your sister able to get there yet?
This kind of love you are given when you are a child, especially if your home is filled with uncertainty and turmoil, stays with you forever...
ReplyDeleteWhat you gave, has now come back

I read this post twice ... & slowly ;-)
That's such a great story. You had to wait a long time, but I bet it will be worth it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderfully moving story. Thanks for sharing that....
ReplyDeleteThank God you were still there for them to find you.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing thing you have done.
ReplyDeleteCan't add a word - it's all been said.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant.
This is so moving. I'm so happy for you, Rachel. Ann
ReplyDeleteOh wow! It is clear that those early years are so important and even if the memories are hazy in conscious minds I think all the kindness and loving care is sometimes sort of stored in cells. Kindness, love, stability and support all help to mould small children into the adults they will become. Your efforts obviously paid off and helped them to weather the hard times. I have had a similar experience with a child who had a checquered life. She lived with me during the week from when she was 6 to 12 years old, spending weekends at her mother's. I too supported her mother who has a very disadvantaged life with all sorts of illness and drug problems. Earlier this year the girl decided she wanted to live permanently with her mum. I just hope that the care and experiences etc. she had here will help her to deal with whatever her life throws her in the future. Your story gives me hope.
ReplyDeleteRachel that was a wonderful story and I am so glad you have met them again. Amazing how things come around. I am a great believer in reaping what you sow and you sowed pretty fabulously!
ReplyDeleteWhat a touching story! I'm so glad you have been able to get together.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing story Rachel! How lovely to have these two grown up boys back in your life again.
ReplyDeleteLove is such a precious thing... it never goes away... it is the waiting that is the hardest part.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had an Auntie Rachel.....
ReplyDeleteIncredible and heartwarming story, it brought tears to my eyes. I'm so happy for you, Rachel, this must be your most wonderful Christmas gift ever.
ReplyDeleteLovely that he did find the courage, after all that time, to turn up at your door. No doubt he was afraid he may be let down again. And soon all three of you can catch up!
ReplyDeleteI am so thrilled for you, and how movingly you tell the story! Must now go and put my mascara on again before getting off to work......most of it down my cheeks! X
ReplyDeleteI delayed my start for work to read this post properly and I finish with tears in my eyes. They are lucky to have you.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing story! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHow great that you're now able to fill in those gaps and how satisfying to know that your boys (well, certainly one of them) have paved a successful path through some significant challenges.
ReplyDeleteOh my. What a story. You've brought tears to my eyes!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! and how fortuitous that your move south was delayed..... dare we say 'Karma'?
