I was given a nice big plump amaryllis bulb at Christmas, by neighbour Suzy. The photo on the box indicated that it would be a rich red.
It sat quietly in its pot inside a dark cupboard for a while, contemplating its life choices, and after release, sprang into vigorous growth. Fat buds appeared.
Not red buds.
White amaryllis. Beautiful.
I much prefer it to red....

It is beautiful. I`m sure you were not disappointed about the colour! The white must go well with the cool colour schemes in your home.
ReplyDeleteI have one that was planted late and it is being very slow........
Lovely photos...a bit like time lapse photography and something to celebrate...even if it is the wrong colour.
ReplyDeleteI would be delighted to discover that it had decided to be white - it looks wonderfully sophisticated against your grey walls.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the white too so much more pure and bridal than the tart's knickers red ones.
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful, and in an ideal setting. They're one of my favourite flowers.

Ooooh I love Amarylis... so pretty
ReplyDeleteJust perfect. And SO much better than red.
ReplyDeleteHow do you manage for everything to be so tasteful, even by accident?
ReplyDeleteA red amaryllis in December:perfect.
ReplyDeleteA white amaryllis in March: double perfection.
Love the photos.

It is strange how flowers change colour;-)
ReplyDeleteApparently with amaryllis bulbs the paler , the better and more prized .
ReplyDeleteBesides it's so beautifully elegant !!
Oh dear - the dissenting voice - I just don't like them!! However I do think that the white flowers go much better in your house than red ones would have!
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteelegant shots.
ReplyDeletelove the growing process shown.
divine post.
Wow. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMe too. Mine kept cut in water after it toppled and then the bulb sent up another flower.
