It's Jane's Flower Monday again - how the month flies by!
From about the 15th until today, this has been happening to the clivia, slowly, slowly, as it does every year.
Meanwhile, a succession of cheap supermarket daffodils come and go. What I love about them is that you never know what is going to turn up; the label simply reads 'British daffodils" and it isn't until they start to open their tight buds that you see what they look like.
These were last week's, but still going strong:
These are the current favourites:
Flowers. Good for the heart.

I love the clivia sequence.
ReplyDeleteBought daffodils are a surprise here as well. From big, blousy King Alfred`s to sweetly scented narcissi. For a few precious weeks I am cutting daffodils from the garden. Just one or two from each clump so that their absence is not missed. We try to plant another clump or two each autumn. Lots of variety, although I can never remember their names.
The double blooms are pretty, although the ones we have grown have such big, heavy heads that the flowers easily snap the stems.
What a wonderful set of pictures. Watching the Clivea open was quite suspenseful...I wasn't sure if it would open fully! Daffodils always spell S.P.R.I.N.G.!
ReplyDeleteOh Rachel, I'm loving those clivia pictures. Well done. Both GG and I sat here coffees in hand, slack jawed watching the clivia open.
ReplyDeleteWe salute you.
And the daffs are a dream come true.
I'm finally up with Mr. Linky so rush over and leave a comment so others may enjoy,
xo Jane
Such gogeous flowers! That clivia is absolutely glorious!
ReplyDeleteI love how you shared the progression of the clvia opening..I went back and made it go fast, how fun!
ReplyDeleteThe ruffles daffs, very pretty.
Have a happy Monday.
WOW~ gorgeous images, all of them.
ReplyDeleteI buy daffs at our local Trader Joes, so inexpensive I don't have to pick any out of my garden!
The clivia is worth the wait! The daffodils are lovely. I agree - flowers are good for you - I always have flowers in the house.
ReplyDeletewhat fun, to see the progression of your clivia blooming! i am jealous of your supermarket daffodils. the ones in my checkout yesterday were fully open, boring plain yellow, and already papery.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I love having flowers in the house too, but can't keep the cats from trying to chew on them. How do you do it?
ReplyDeleteYour local supermarket stocks a very superior range of cheap daffs ! And your Clivia is gorgeous . Thankyou for letting us see it unfold .
ReplyDeleteJust what I needed after a very long day .
Wow super photos. Your daffs are fab. THe white ones are rocking my flower world. Nice! Sinead
ReplyDeleteDaffodils always make me think that we've finally turned the corner into Spring!
ReplyDeleteHope they smell as good as they look. Our daffs (on a north facing slope) have finally started to come out. I don't pick them unless they've been blown over by wind and rain - and for the last week we haven't had any! In Wales!! We have loads of different types, which will flower over the next few weeks, but whether or not any will last until Easter is anybody's guess.
ReplyDeleteLove the clivia - such a lovely flower. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI have waved this post in front of my adopted Clivia - it does not look as substantial as yours (its parent?). I think I will put it somewhere else that might suit it better.
ReplyDeleteYour final daffodils I think are Thalia - particular favourite. All are a very welcome splash of colour.
oh, lovely, lovelier, and loveliest...
