My Tante Mimi once had a hat of which she was particularly fond. It had been worn for a son's wedding, and to her sorrow, she never had the occasion to wear it again.
But it was too lovely to neglect, so she wore it on Wednesdays, while she cleaned her bedroom.
In a fit of blind optimism a couple of weeks ago, I bought myself a sun hat.
Paper braid, it may remain brand new and unworn for some time.
Today, although the water butt is full to overflowing, the sun shines intermittently.
The plants I brought from Newcastle have survived, and are responding well to warmer rain.
But it's too chilly for that hat.
Perhaps this Wednesday I could clean my bedroom.....
Or you could come and clean mine - I don't have any energy for it, the rain has sapped it all.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of wearing a hat on Wednesdays, as a kind of tradition, whether cleaning a bedroom or not! Perhaps we should organise a 'wear a hat to Blog in day' and help the idea to spread... LOL

ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely hat. It would get plenty of use here in Swampeast Missouri. We've had no shortage of sun but not enough rain to keep the pastures alive. Enjoy! A hat like that would make cleaning less of a chore and more of an event.

That hat spells romance. You look quite fetching in it...and it's a fine chapeau all 'round. It will protect you in the garden, not just cleaning the house!

Maybe I should start wearing a wedding hat instead - or would that mean that I would look (even more) eccentric when I nip to the shops? Already I have been known to be in Aldi or little Waitrose mid evening, still with my pinny on having run out of a vital baking ingredient.

ReplyDeleteI have a sun hat too! But the brim is enormous and floppy, to cover my white shoulders as well as my billboard forehead. Haven't brought it out yet this season, but I do love it! Will probably wear it to the Scottish Highland games this year, as long as the hurricanes hold off. (Missed the games last year because of the dang hurricane.)
