Colouring

This is my favourite time of year. So many colours, and not just the autumn leaves.

Pinks.

Flossie chose a ball to co-ordinate with her tongue.

When it gets too muddy she rinses it in the brook.

There were vibrant yellows.

And zingy reds.

Creamy white.

Different blues, bluey-pinks, and bluey-pinky-lilacs.

And lovely, lively orange. Such a tonic as the days shorten.

High-viz orange too. This rider asked her horse to smile for the camera.

There was colour even when darkness fell.....

And all within 500 yards of my house.

That burning orange in the berries and the Ghastly Grin is almost enough to carry us through the grey gloom till Spring . Well , that and a good hearty soup or two !

The colours are all the more striking in the sometimes grey days of autumn and early winter.

Wonderful! Nature is amazing, my Wallflowers are in bloom again and my Evening Primroses are taller than I have ever seen them.

Very interesting to see how many flowers you still have compared to us in the frozen Nawff. My nasturtiums are still hanging on but are all stringy and bedraggled, unlike those prize specimens. Hope the fuchsia's doing well.

Autumn was never my favourite time when I was working. But it's different now I'm retired and can go outside and sniff the air and see the colours.

Can we just skip winter, though?

Flossie, you are priceless!
Thanks for the Autumn stroll everyone!
Everything seems just green here after that...(Then again, what else can you get in a rainforest?!)
Just dreaming along the paths with you though...
Until next time...

I want to live in a place where you can walk down the street and come upon a horse and its rider just 500 yards from *my* house. Never, ever would it happen here in Greensboro.

A lovely variety to have round you! Our ornamental quince is flowering again, and the winter jasmine has just started to put out its little yellow flowers, although it still hasn't fully recovered from the two hard winters.

What pretty uplifting photos. Thanks for sharing them. They will make me inspect my neighbourhood with fresh eyes.

Not much left here I'm afraid.... even if the weather has been unseasonably wonderful..... the wind blew all the leaves off the past week... now they are all in bags..... only some brilliant Hawthorn and Mountain Ash berries left for colour. Thank goodness the blue spruce stays a lovely blue all year round....the fir stay green .... but, other than that.... just bare, dry sticks and twigs for trees...and flowers?...well... none.....at all.
