Well, something worked!

Susan said a prayer to St Anthony and I thought about looking in the places where the camera definitely wouldn't be, and there it was - in the bottom of my handbag, along with old receipts, powdery tissues, biros that don't write any more, and all sorts of unidentifiable gritty bits that came from heaven knows where.

It had come to the hairdresser with me. Just think, I could have taken scary Hallowe'eny sort of photos of myself in a black nylon smock with my hair dye applied, laughing at hairdresser Dan's plans for his stag night in Prague this weekend.

I have spent about 2 hours ransacking the house for this blasted camera, just to take rather pitiful flash photos of ugly things that only I and a couple of you - the ones in a similar state of domestic chaos and disorder -  might get excited about, and there it was, in the handbag sump, gathering debris.

My mother, were she here, would have given St Anthony the credit. When we were children, she would have us all saying prayers to him whenever anything was lost or mislaid, and she, very haphazard in her Catholicism, believed firmly that it was always he who helped us find the scissors/purse/specs/dinner money amidst the general untidiness. My own approach is to look in all the likely places first, then whittle it down to the very least likely of all, and usually it will turn up. (Alternatively, you could buy/apply for a new one, as in the case of bank or loyalty cards, at which point, the lost one will appear just at the very second that it has been cancelled.)

So here you go.

I shall spare you the squashed frogs. It's dark outside, and raining, and I fear adding to my local reputation as the madwoman incomer who walks with ill-assorted coughing dogs and a little tabby cat by creeping about, bent over double, searching in the rainy darkness for a squashed frog to photograph.

I won't open the boxes that contain the floor tiles, but I know that in order to sleep tonight, you needed to see the rest, especially Malcolm, who likes a bit of builders mayhem. Perhaps I should have brushed my hair first, but the point is, no grey roots!

Personally, I can't wait for the After shots. Maybe next week, before the ever-increasing grey emerges again....

Lovely shiny hair! Looks smashing.

Gosh, what radical stuff goes on in your house, I hope it will be finished soon.

But you are getting things done so quickly! It's amazing. Do you know how long I have waited to have my kitchen in this chaos? Six years , yes six years!

Mum was right...St Anthony's is always there to help! (Honestly, I need all the help I can get - much too often here!) so invocations helps my sanity!
Hair looking good!
Blessings,

They've certainly got a move on - it's most impressive. I for one feel very glad not to have viewed the poor frogs. Is it Mahler's St. Anthony of Padua who helps with the Lost Items? He's a busy saint if it is he as that one also gives sermons to fishes. I'm rabbiting again, amn't I?

Now I can rest. Loving that soil pipe and your shiny hair - not necessarily in that order.

Photo 3, of the PVC and copper pipes, is gorgeous!

Plumbing heaven ! That shiny hair is very attractive , too . Why won't mine gleam like that ?
( Never mind about St.Anthony . I've now reached the St Jude stage )

I look forward to the "after" shots. Assuming, of course, your camera does not become walled-up by plasterers...

I read this post (camera found) before the previous one (camera lost) so I don't feel as though I've missed out at all!

i was always taken by the "thanks to St Jude" adverts in the back of the Manchester Evening News when I was a kid. The patron saint of lost causes somhow appeals to my generally dour sensibilities lol.

So pleased you found your camera, I relish the pics of your order emerging from the chaos.

At least with houses the renovations last a reasonable time - not so the hairdresser's art!

That is very glossy hair, and those are very impressive pipes. The last photo reminds me of the time my son, aged 3, asked me "Why is a wall?". I'm not sure I ever found a satisfactory answer to that one ;D

Dear St. Anthony did come around....

And you hair does look smashing.

As will your new room.

Your reputation, I fear, is forever lost.

I love your renovations, the house will be lovely to live in. You are a very busy bee and are making me feel a lazy slob, haha. I always ask St. Anthony for help with finding lost things and he always helped !!.( He is the only saint I believe in though ).

Glad the camera turned up! Your hair looks lovely. Good progress on the work front - at least you have an end in sight ...... some years ago Malcolm half installed our new kitchen, then went off to Houston for 6 weeks (which were the six weeks before Christmas!!)

I once lost some keys. Three people independently turned out the bag where I KNEW I'd put them. Not there. Very distressing when I had to leave the door open to go out. And at the end of the day when I went to lock up and get the keys from my bag... there they were. Spooky.

Oh, my goodness! Those exact same things happen to me... something I need has just vanished... I search and search and search, then after I finally give up (and usually will have replaced the wretched thing) it shows up! It often shows up in a place I was sure I had already looked. It makes me think I must be losing my mind.
