For those of you who, like me, hadn't come across Henri before, and like a bit of French existentialist gloom, watch this and the subsequent videos made by this poor suffering cat. You may, like me, laugh aloud.
For those of you who want a bit of uncomplicated joie de vivre and some Autumn colour instead, here's Flossie's take on the Meaning of Life.
Sartre? Whassat? Like sausage? Sandwich? Snack? Stick?
Stick!
Smells!
Leave? Why? Look good enough to eat.....
Paddle.
Droop. Please hurry up; photographing alpacas is DULL!
Trespass; get scolded. Behind these gates is a nice deep pond....
Climb.
And go home again. Slowly.
Existence for dogs? Simple, if you don't over-think.

Will Braden, owner of Henri and creator of those videos, won the Golden Kitty award at the Internet Cat Video Film Festival in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Here's a link to the New York Times article about Henri, Will and the festival:

Perhaps Flossie needs to star in her own video? I doubt that the words ennui and tedium would be used, though.
Pauvre Henri! I smiled at the spider incident.
Flossie looks happy - outdoors is good, walks are good, sticks (or something else to carry) are good and WATER is especially good:-)) Oh, to have the capacity to enjoy simple things . . .
Oh, Flossie than you! I needed that walk (and your perspective on life).
Good girl Flossie! Stick. Damned right.
Hmm, I think I'll go with Flossie's take on things this time.
The perfect contrast... Henri then Flossie. Some days I feel like Henri but I am going to use Flossie as my new role model.
Flossie lives in heaven, and her philosopher must be the Buddah!
love the video. i've seen them before. brilliant. love your photos of your walk. i wish i had somewhere like that to enjoy every day. i'll make do with our local river and the cemetery next door is always interesting. that sound's a bit weird doesn't it? i always enjoy your blog but am finding those captcha's difficult to read.
Looking good Flossie! My, I envy you (and Mum) those lovely walks!
You can only go so far on an island 1/2 wide by 1 1/2 mile long!
Hugs to all,
Amen, Flossie. I'm with you all the way! Even the trespassing. You see the neatest stuff when "accidentally" trespassing! 8-)
Oh Flossie - you are soooo right!
Lesley xx
I found that quite sad! (Henri, I mean, not Flossie.) Must polish up my sense of humour. Funny, yes, but also depressing...
(Oh, for goodness sake, those stupid unreadable letters... grrr.)
Hello Rachel,
I just found your blog and loved your walk with Flossie.
Photographing alpacas could never be dull.

Our cat is called Henry the second (he looks uncannily like his predecessor). People sometimes look at us strangely.
Thanks for a lovely walk with Flossie!
