Anyway, the group moved overnight. About 4 feet away, upwards to the end of the washing line. It was difficult to get a closer view of them without risking a cascade of startled little creatures onto the camera. I don't think this is the entire group either; I shall instigate a search party later. Oh yes, this is serious monitoring!
Some of them are becoming adventurous, and striking out alone.
Just don't get into my laundry, little beast. You're intended to become a garden spider, not an ironing board casualty.

Have just got my head caught in a web outside the back door. Not amused.
Just you wait until you're trapped, surrounded by webs of spiders who do not want to leave home!
I use to hate spiders until I found a scorpion caught in a spider's web in our entryway. Now I appreciate the work they do. My husband says it's very bad luck to kill a spider and is always rescuing them..
That last paragraph leaves one with a rather vivid image .....

I am enjoying the stories of your spiders' progress. And I am glad that you didn't kill em! At the moment I have a permanent glass on hand to move all the new spiders outside.

We could have a "how many legs can you count" competition. Seriously, that's a lot of legs you have there.
I saw the very scene today played out in my garden in several places. Those egg sacks surviving the winter and miraculously hatching in the warmth. I hope they all don't survive the next couple of months.
