I'll put the kettle on, shall I?
Cranberry bread recipe* courtesy of Shelagh-in-Toronto, using all the cranberries that Scooter and Hamish didn't make off with to hide under sofas and behind cupboards.
A sweet, easy, interesting (I'm trying to cut down on using the word delicious but it is!) tea loaf; pecans and raisins added. No need for butter, but, you know, if you want to......
One is for Roger and Tim (happy birthday, Professor!) and one is for me and anyone who cares to pop in. Tea loaves and afternoon tea were made for each other.
Thank you for all your other cranberry suggestions too!
*Recipe:
Sift:
- 2 cups all-purpose (plain) flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
Add:
- 3/4 cup caster sugar
- grated rind and juice of 1 orange
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 c walnuts (I used pecans and a small handful of raisins) - optional
- 2 cups chopped cranberries
Bake in loaf tin/s for 45-50 minutes at 350/180 degrees

I'm glad you like it. Wish I could say "I'll be right over"
You may be trying not to say delicious ....but I don't feel so restrained .
I use dried cranberries in scones , with or without added raisins and love the slight tang they have . But the fresh ones look even prettier !
Hungry now .
That looks excellent. I wish I had the type of life where people popped in for afternoon tea (ie. the not-working type of life!!).
My husband does when he's home from the rig - I have found out on working from home days that he has a little network of male pals who call round for coffee and chat (usually over some project or other). But I would do it soooo much better - cranberry bread and all....
Looks lovely.

Looks excellent. I'll be greedy and have butter on mine please.
Keep a slice for me. (Sigh.)
It's truly delicious! I like it when you can enjoy other people's birthdays vicariously :) Thank you.
