Arson

At the beginning of April, down on the allotment, there was this to see:

John's shed, and further down, showing a bit of green paint, Alan and Brenda's shed/greenhouse.

And my little tree.

Today, sad sights.

Alan and Brenda's shed/greenhouse was set alight in the small hours of Sunday, and everything lost, including all their tomato plants and gardening equipment.

Thankfully, they had blocked up the little hole where in previous years blue-tits had nested, so no baby birds died for someone's warped enjoyment.

John's shed was burned down too; he is away on holiday, and won't know anything about this till his return. He has lost a shed this way before.

Plants nearby were scorched: the other Alan's yellow rose...

Ian's fruit bushes, and...

....my little tree.

I really don't understand this type of behaviour, never having wanted to destroy anyone else's property. All that hard work spoiled by idiots with no empathy or imagination.

Ooooohhh this just burns me right up along with the sheds!! One more perfectly great reason to get out of that place!!

ARSsonists are some of the worst and idiotic people in the world... they never stop for one second to think of the animals they will kill never mind the cost or the damage to humans... a house and several others went up here a few years ago due to a pot farm.... killed many dogs and cats... which of course, I still can't quite fathom...because somehow all the people managed to get out of their houses.... how did the pets not get out?? I never understand this type of thing...and I seem to be always the only one questioning it.... nobody has answers for me .... it's like they wonder why I want to know...

This just makes me feel sick. And very sad. I can't imagine how badly everyone must feel. The photos are bad enough. Seeing it in person must be dreadful.

What a mean thing to do. Stealing for gain can be seen to at least have a purpose. This was just mean and nasty.

It leaves you speechless doesn't it. It's beyond comprehension.

That is so sad. An allotment is such a place of sanctuary and now it has been defiled.

Why would anyone do such a thing? If they are jealous or don't like the allotment, just take the fruit and/or veggies to eat and leave the rest alone. I mean, really, how sick can some people be? Grrrr!

Bastards ... because sadly, no doubt, they were boys or young men. This is shocking news.

How mean ...... Husband finally gave up his allotment , in part because he got fed up with his veg. being nicked , but mainly because someone decided to set light to the sheds at random .
The stupid thing was that they all knew who was doing it , so did the police .... but it could never be proved .
Husband took the law into his own hands and went round to talk to the culprit's mother and ended up just feeling sorry for her . As he said , "She has to live with the little b....... "
He's always been nicer than me !

Why on earth would someone do that? My pet hate is mindless destruction.. especially of something so innocuous as an allotment shed.... an object that can't possibly represent an anger towards society.

Like everyone else I am upset about this and heartfelt commiserations to the people who have experienced this. I hope the perpetrators are found out as of all mindless crimes arson has the potential to create far more damage, danger and destruction than the idiots who do this sort of thing realise.

This is not a swearing blog. If it was I'd say some scorching words.

Think phoenix?

They know how much pleasure this allotment gives. That's why they do it. That's the sad and infuriating part, that they in turn get pleasure in destroying, rather than helping and delighting in other's hard work. It's cowardice and underhanded and mean. They are the poorer for not appreciating and cherishing beauty.Although vandals see these actions as silly or funny, the motivation to do this, the actual source, comes from a place most of us can't comprehend and wouldn't wish to.Poverty of spirit I'd say.
I am so sorry about your lovely tree and the damage done to everything.

Terrible! Things like this are why we left California and moved to rural Georgia.

I am really upset to see this. I hope everyone affected is able to put it behind them and move on! Blah to those who try to spoil things for other people.

So sorry that people should want to do something so horrible. They are really twisted and sick.
