Parental doubt

(Warning: not for the squeamish)

There are times when the Lovely Son gives me cause to think "Did I really produce that person?  How could he really be mine?"

Such a moment occurred this morning when I got up to find his latest text, sent from Cambodia.

"It's not every day you stuff a mouthful of roughly chopped and fried but still very giant black ants into your mouth to help wash down a crunchy whole quail's head. Much rum afterwards for forgetting. Plus occasional anty burps. Love it here."

Travel broadens the mind and the palate.

I think I may miss breakfast today. Perhaps just a little rum for forgetting....

I'm so with you & the yuck ! Although I would be happily adventurous when it comes to vegetation ... but I guess that misses the point. ;-) les GAng

When you're hungry you'll eat anything, so I'm told by the One Who Knows. Not sure - I think I'd probably starve.

Bleuchhh - skip straight to the rum and just forget breakfast altogether!
Maybe it's just us Brits who are 'funny' about the animals we eat? Perhaps ants are very nutritious and delicious...? Judging by the alcoholic brunch, I guess not.

It's not jut Brits who are fussy about what they eat, though we may have learned a lot of our habits from you. I definitely eat with my eyes and heart, which limits what I'm willing to eat.

It works the other way too - Stuart came home once from visiting his paternal Grandpa and said 'are you sure I'm related to him?' ......
I am quite an adventurous eater, but I'm not sure about ants .... although give me a couple of glasses of wine first, and you never know what I might eat!

That sounds revolting but then I am a vegetarian but reading the other comments the carnivores weren't too impressed either.
