Done and dusted

Mrs Thrifty, me.

I've always loved the colours on my stairs.

And after some minor agonising over how cold (despite its hugely efficient radiator) the new shower room looked, with its small North-facing window and its walls hastily covered with leftover white paint, I had an inspired little idea. I had lots of the lighter shade of the stair paint left over; that would change the feel of the shower room.

A couple of walls are now painted with the leftover pale lilac-y grey of the stairs, the beam picked out in the darker shade.

Co-ordination and penny-saving; just the ticket for a bathroom on a budget. Pictures and yet more hanging glass baubles from Amsterdam were moved from elsewhere, and the Lloyd Loom chair, its original colour a little drab, was swapped for a white one from the spare room.

It is still a pale, light little room, but not so chilly-looking.

I like it! And I'm glad that it's finished.

It looks absolutely lovely. That grey is gorgeous! I love your bathroom's simplicity very much, and wish mine could be like this.

What are the two glass (?) ornaments hanging from the window?

Finished! You must be so pleased...and relieved. The touch of lilacy grey was a masterpiece. Or maybe a mistresspiece! Shame you are selling it all.

It's beautiful. I wish I could, just sometimes, achieve the quiet look you manage to achieve. We have too much 'stuff' and not enough storage - hence everything seems to be on display here!

It looks really lovely, very warm, not at all chilly. I love the pale lilac-y grey colour of the walls.

You are good at this Rachel! don't fancy helping me deal with OH's tendency to create piles of stuff do you? If I had the answer I am sure I too could have calm.

Very nice indeed, though my eyes must be going funny because I can't see any grey apart from on the beam. Are the walls a vary very pale grey?

Anyway. Lovely. Now don't use it and mess it up, will you?

I like pale, light, little, utilitarian bathrooms with just a touch or two of color, like your chest there in the corner!
I still think it's worthy of a Real Simple cover!

Your new room is beautiful! The gray paint added just the right amount of warmth without detracting from the elegance and simplicity. You did a wonderful job!

I really like it. I'm not one for hanging around in the bathroom, so your understated look would suit me perfectly. The baubles are a great touch.
