Reaching out

The overwhelming feeling that many of us experience as we watch the news unfold about Japan is helplessness.

Yet we can help, and many organisations are already there, doing all that they can for that stricken country and its unbelievably stoical people who are suffering so much.

The Red Cross is there too, and Save The Children. Please think about donating, if not to them, then to another organisation.

No blog post tomorrow; instead, a Day of Silence for Japan. Silence, and our loving thoughts.

I don't know if you've seen this video:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/dog-in-japan-stays-by-the-side-of-its-ailing-friend-in-the-rubble

but I then went to this website

http://www.globalanimal.org/2011/03/15/how-to-help-japan-pets/32243/

and sent my donation to Japan SPCA.

I figure that many, many people are sending donations to the Red Cross, et al, that I need to do my bit for the pets.

Helpage International for all those old people who've lost everything and everyone and who will now just turn their faces to the wall .

Such awful events put into perspective our daily grumbles. I can't imagine losing so much - not just personal possessions, but the street, the district, the whole town. As always, I've given to the Red Cross.

" Shelter Boxes" is another charity that I came across the other day, and seems very relevant to the Japan disaster.

I feel so sorry for the survivors, caught up now in the nuclear power station nightmare, who cannot get away. The desperation of the parents of young children can only be imagined.
