Mothers can be wrong too

Nope, he didn't enjoy it.

A rather scathing review by text made me laugh this morning.

Still, now he knows, and can refuse future invitations without incurring the accusation of "How do you know, if you've never tried it?"

What a pity. My two sons feel the same way, despite taking them to a few ballets when they were younger. Their loss, I feel.....

Ah well, at least he tried it!

I tried it and disliked it too, I think I was too close to the stage and could hear the feet on the boards; quite distracting. At least he knows now.

What is it they say, One man's meat is another's poison!

I'm with Toffeeapple, all the thumping of the feet puts me off too. Now opera is an entirely different matter. Get C to take him to the opera next! (Fingers are still crossed here.)

Just had a good long catch up with your blogs. Lovely son's girlfriend looks gorgeous and I am so glad to hear that things are on the move again for the house. I am crossing my fingers and toes for you.

But if he's still at the 'She enjoyed it, and that's all that matters' stage of the relationship, it will not have been in vain.

Don't like his chances for the opera either, but you never know. It's something which I've tried to like but never mastered. At least he went!

Ah! The feet thing - a definite distraction. I don't like ice skating for the same reason...but ballet would be be higher up the list.

But the opera...I grew up with my family's blanket condemnation of it, convinced it wasn't for me. But aged 35 was taken to La Traviata and was seriously smitten. The rest is history and a wish to inhabit the best seat in the house. ROH natch.

Only regret - that I,d not made my own mind up perhaps 15 years earlier.

Now, I really loved hearing the feet, first time I saw a live ballet! It made it so real to me, and helped to illustrate the physical effort required in order to look effortless!

Ah well, we're all different. Surely he liked the music, though? With his eyes shut?

After I started to sing I could not sit through an entire ballet. Kept wondering why they didn't open their mouths :-)

I have no interest in ballet, as it seems to me an endless waving around of arms and legs. However, get me to Riverdance and I'm in heaven! Would also love to see Stomp. I like my dancing a little more hearty and down to earth.
