Nothing to say, lots to see

The weather has been lovely, brought by my dear old school friend Tricia, who has travelled from Australia to spend a few months in Britain, and who is currently staying with me.

I am enjoying showing her round the few places that have now become familiar to me, and discovering new places too. Still so much to see and do!

With her comes her camera and a lot of complaining about its weight. Here are a few of her photos.

I've been shopping.

First, a new (old) chest of drawers.

Perennials.

Leggy sedum from the Rescue Me table.

And a load of logs for the wood burner that won't be installed till October.

These need to be moved into the linhay soon. Meantime, Flossie looks after them - Guardian of the Giant Sticks.....

Old doors and gates, quirky buildings, beautiful views - what a treat for a Sunday morning! I love the house with the very tall chimney, topped with a tv aerial. Your chest of drawers is fabulous. Our sedum is just starting to colour - a welcome splash in an otherwise end of summer border.

I could certainly get used to living in such a wonderful part of the country too!
How lovely to have your friend visit and share your new beginning.
It's so sweet that all the furries have settled in so well too - a happy and contented cottage :o)

Good luck with those Japanese anemones. They spread! Plant them and spring sharply back before they engulf you...

How nice to be able to show off your new home and surroundings to an old friend.

Gorgeous pictures, is that Dunster Castle? I wouldn't like to have to negotiate that hill too often, even to gaze at the beautiful thatch on the cottage. I envy you your log pile even though I don't have anywhere to burn wood, I just think they look lovely.

You can flaunt your views of rolling downs , cliffs and winding lanes all you like . I'm not jealous . But the shot of the log pile with its promise of toasty snugness could reduce me to tears ...
P.S. That camera is worth its weight in gold !

Your photo's have revived my old memories - many thanks.
Good to see the old red sandstone of Dunster Castle standing so majestic against the backcloth of the Quantock Hills. So have you tasted clotted cream yet and if not why not :) ? It is something that I sorely miss.

Gorgeous photos. I feel a need to talk to you about your garden. Obsessive moi? What sort of soil do you have? Bet it is a fabulous rich loam, if so must not be jealous!

What amazing views, and such beautiful villages! I love The Guardian of the Giant Sticks, that last picture is fantastic - her tongue looks as if it has been eating one of her charges though!
