There and back again

She's back.

Yesterday I collected Tricia (my boarding school friend since we were 14 years old) from the station, to stay for her final fortnight before returning briefly to the North East, then departing for her own home in Australia.

Today we went to Porlock Weir. The weather changed rapidly.

We got very wet.

After a comforting lunch in Porlock, the dogs snoozing in the steamed-up car, the weather changed again, and off we went up Dunkery Hill.

Tricia dreams of spotting a stag, but no such luck today.

Too cold and windy for that trek up to the beacon itself, so we came home the scenic way (is there any other?) via Wootton Courtenay.

There were lambs in the fields.

And at Bratton, the teeniest ford with the teeniest footbridge.

But despite the blue skies, we came home chilled....

And did this:

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh...............

There has been changeable weather here too, it started dull and grey, then stair-rods then no cloud and bright sunshine. Big black clouds coming over now. Looks like you two have had a marvellous day and are grateful for the stove!

Snow flurries here. Brr. Now had enough of this drab season. Cheered by your beautiful landscape and cosy wood burner.

Humm, it's snowing here. Torrential rain all morning (at least it filled the pond by at least two inches) and very cold. No lambs...

Bright, then rain, then a little brighter, then more rain . . . now it's raining. The dogs enjoyed their walk and the crows called for their biscuits.

Dull and spitty. Much ground ivy pulling, brief respite by woodburner and then back to the Smoke.

Across the Pond, we're basically skipping winter..or so it seems. Today sunny and almost warm. I'm smitten with your countryside and a little envious of your guest!

It's such an "ahhh" moment when you can spend time with your best friend whether it's going for a walk or enjoying the fire. Enjoy time with your BF and I hope you have a lovely visit with each other :)

The fire looks so inviting! It probably smells good, too.

Ah yes....the rain on Saturday. I was walking my pal's yorkie in a sudden downpour. Drowned rat didn't really cover how she looked . She was not a happy bunny ( dog ! )

Beautiful photographs - especially of the views over the hills. And how I wish I was there when you lit the woodburner!!
