Missed

The household has been unsettled since Monday.

There has been a lot of this:

It has been very similar in my household since Miss Mouse left us, except my once very quiet Zoey who rarely meowed, now follows me around meowing constantly.

They know and they fell it quite deeply.

They will be missing her. I know how much my cats love our two old dogs.

She was there before all of them were, and accepted them. She was a good keeper-of-cat-secrets.

Oh dear, Rachel! It seems everyone misses their little friend very much!
Sending lots of hugs and much love to all!

Extra cuddles and treats are obviously needed (for the humans too!!)
We still miss our dogs, although we lost both of them in the 90s!!

Just like with people, loss makes us all realise what is important.

Look at how they comfort each other! That is to me a comfort. These things don't ever really come to pass, we all just carry on regardless.

Been there and seen 'missed'. The 'searching' saddened me particularly. Really wished I had been able to explain to the dog where his beloved sparring partner the cat had gone, and why. Perhaps it was a maternal, nurturing thing but I so wanted to make things better for my puzzled dog.

Our vet tells us that animals live in the here-and-now, and don't fear that final mysterious journey as we do. That's fine for the departed one but the ones left behind certainly are affected by the loss of a companion. I guess, as with most things, it will get easier.

I'm still welling up looking at her photo in the side bar.

Your photos exactly express how it feels. Very much missed, just as she was loved.

Yes,cosy snoozes do help when we sense an air of "something-not-quite-right."
We'll ask Dinah for an extra treat, to show solidarity.

The comfort they're giving to each other can be a comfort to you, poignant as it may be. Thank you
for these beautiful photos. You've
all been in my thoughts.

One of my boys mourned for a month after his buddy passed. And then began following me everywhere.

One of the pack/pride members disappears: reinforce the existing bonds.
Here, on the other hand, Angus has come into his own and is dancing.

How amazing that they're comforting each other. It's a tight pack/pride.
