Well, guess what?

The sun is shining!

In fact, it's rather hot outside the back door.

Perhaps a little too hot.

Wilt, wilt.....

Laundry may be dried outdoors at last.

There's no doubt that the garden has suffered with all the heavy rain. The roses have been battered, and are now mostly dead-headed. There have been terrible casualties in the slug/snail war, and there are areas of bare soil, including that over Tosca's little grave, that await decisions. It's all a bit of a jumble.

But things are rallying.

The Gardener tells me that there is more colour in my little patch than in most of the grander gardens that he has tended in recent months.

It'll do nicely for now. Keep on shining, sun.

You've got red tomatoes ! RED !!
I'm now feeling hard-done-by . Perhaps I should emigrate to Somerset .

How come your outdoor tomatoes appear to be thriving? And Red? I am also feeling hard-done-by.

Hooray - we have had some sunshine too! What a difference it makes - everything just seems better when the sun shines!

Your garden looks wonderful to me! We can only dream of figs and tomatoes in the Frozen North. And is that the hat getting used at last?

What a little bit of sun and good companionship will do when we try to rise up above any ennui!
Hugs to Flossie!

Meanwhile, my indoor tomato plants just have flowers. You have figs. Gosh.

That last picture, the intense little daisy-like things, what are they called please? I used to have some and they lit up the evening border like fireflies.

I have spring flowers and it isn't August yet! It still seems a long way to summer here - there was frost last night.

I do like your garden and your melted dog :)

The sun is GLORIOUS, if a little overzealous, after days and days of rain, isn't it?
Your photos' colors constitute, for me, the perfect English garden.

At least you got rid of those nasty fuchsias. Ahem.

It's sunny here too! Do you think it's discouraging the slugs? No, I thought not.

Everything looks lovely, and here's an idea for Tosca's grave... we have buried two of our dear furry friends in the garden, and for each we found a large, attractive stone. A natural stone, not a grave stone... but one that looks good among the surrounding plants. To the casual onlooker, it's just a nice feature of the garden, but we know who each stone is in remembrance of. This allows us to share the memory with folks that are close enough to care, and to let others who visit casually just think we have interesting rocks in our garden.

Just catching up after a protracted period of doing 'other things'. I was so sorry to read of Tosca's passing - it always moves me to see how the rest of the four-footed household reacts.
As for the house - your cottage is infinitely better and has far more character and your garden is beautiful.
Hope the sun keeps shining . . . :-)
