Graduating
Coming out of my yard door into the back lane this morning, I encountered two young men at theirs, at the house opposite, recently vacated by students and now re-let after major cleaning, throwing out, and restocking with furniture. We said hello, and the cats and dog crowded round me in that unashamedly nosy way they have with newcomers and other people's open back doors.
The young men asked me what day was bin day, and we chatted for a while. They were pleasant and talkative, and I said something about them being students, whereupon one of them said hastily "Oh, we're not students any more! We're young professionals!"
And no, I didn't chuckle. Not outwardly, anyway.

I meant to add on the cat's blog - your yard looks amazing!
A lovely story!!
Oh dear, oh lor! What a shock awaits! Obviously they believed the rhetoric . . .
Young professional whats ?
hahaha. That just means it's more difficult to complain about the noisy parties now though. No more threatening with the letter to the Vice Chancellor!
"ditto" what the veg artist said. He's a lucky Dr. to find such a lovely home and with such a perfect little white washed haven in the back. xo les Gang
Your yard is lovely. Ahh, to be young again and excited about having a job.
Cute story!!
Ooooh... but are they HOT young professionals? Hmmmmm? Fess up!
If they are employed Young Professionals then they are very fortunate!
So many of my younger son`s graduation year (2008) are still not in graduate employment. If they are employed, they are often Under Employed and still doing their previous student jobs in pubs and supermarkets. There is very little else on offer around here.
Your yard looks so beautiful. Think what you will do with a real garden!
Right, we need to know what they profess.
Funny
