Muggins here....

I really love tea. Ceylon tea in particular, medium strong, just a dash of milk, thank you. Nothing with added soap perfume, nothing herbal unless I have no other choice; good coffee only rarely, and never ever from Starbucks.

A love of tea goes together with a love of mugs, teapots, tea sets, assorted cups and saucers, and nice little things to nibble alongside.

I have far too many mugs and cups, some of which I never use myself, but are kept for visitors, who often have their own favourite. The kettle is always on in this house. Had I been around in WWII, I'd have been out there somewhere in the bombed ruins, dispensing tea from a huge urn, confident that this was essential to the preservation of life.....

The new mug will be one of my favourites, being pail-shaped and large, not too thick and clonky, with a comfortable handle. Here it is again, Fran, to give you a sense of its size. See, perfectly manageable!

Billy the roofer is back; much tea is being made (strong Typhoo for him and his mate, in sturdy mugs, lots of sugar added, with sugary nibbles on the side). This is the third day of his miraculous return, flaking slates replaced and a new lead gutter installed - and hopefully my ancient roof will be finished today.

Except that he's just found Something Dreadful..... I'm off to put the kettle on again now.

Obviously time to get Millie on the job - or is that too high, even for her?

Ooooooh! . Something Dreadful definitely calls for tea ..... and a sugary nibble for the shock .

Making tea here too. Only two hours later than expected grrr! Too early to say if anything Dreadful will be uncovered but the indoor 'cosmetic repair' has been upgraded to a full strip, new plaster, re-line, seal and paint job. That teapot top right is the one we had at home. I loved its shiny metal cosy.

Goodness, we have three things in common - the silver and china teapots I inherited from my mother, the large collection of teacups and saucers in a glass fronted dresser (what am I going to do with them when we downsize); and more seriously, the builders hammering a ceiling into place in the new bathroom and grinding into a bedroom to make a door opening to the patio. After that it's the turn of the old bathroom to be renovated. At this stage I am questioning the decision to embark on this adventure.

I'm loving tea more and more. Green, about three cups in succession. Great shots of the tins, mugs, and tea sets.

Tea is essential to the preservation of life - if not that, at the very least sanity. Hope the dreadful is not too dreadful!

I have a crockery cupboard reamrkably similar to yours. I don't use the things in it, I just like them! Love your collection of teapots as well.
You can't beat a good cup of builder's tea occasionally, though I can't bear sugar in mine...

Oh, but it IS dreadful; slates like flaky pastry, some held on with screws (!!), rather than nails, rotten laths. Billy would only admit to it testing his patience but said it would be sorted out. I dread the final bill.....

Reminds me of the time I served a pot of Earl Grey to a couple of blokes working at our previous house. They told the Husband I was trying to poison them.

I love mugs too. Yours are lovely. (And I agree with you about Starbucks.)
I love tea, and I love coffee (but not Starbucks), and I especially love a little nibble on the side. So cozy!

(Your roof sounds a little like my teeth!)

I am another tea lover but I like mine so weak and weedy that my girls laugh at me and start a book on the number of times the same teabag has been reused. But I would have been at your side in WW2.
Sorry about the something dreadful.
