A word of advice...

...from one who (now) knows: don't start playing with your Blogger template unless you are:

  • not tired and grumpy from all that election-following and too much telly
  • a bit dim when it comes to toggling effectively between old and new templates
  • capable of being decisive about colours
  • able to pick colours that don't look like an unexciting range of make-up
  • patient enough to go and unpick it all when you decide that you hate it
  • not a person who says rather too readily "Sod this!" and goes off to make a cup of tea over which to sulk

I'm off for a cup of tea and a sulk now.

You have my heartfelt sympathy . I've just spent all evening wrestling with a new camera ....
Tea and a little lie-down might restore good humour . Or there's always cake .

I like the orange as well! I've never really changed mine, just tweaked it a bit now and then. The only time I tried to make real aterations it all went haywire...so I put it back how it was. One thing I am not is a computer geek.

As we are almost blog-illiterate, apart from reading, that is, and have only just got over having to work out a Google account so that we could post at all(and even that was with help!!), we could not possibly comment, other than to say that we now love both blogs!

Linda and Rupert(who is excused, as being a cat in this house does not involve being computer savvy).

I don't dare try to change anything on my blog. A tea and a sulk sounds mild to what my reaction is when I try to do anything computer-related. I think your template looks fine and I love the new banner photo! I tried to figure out how to change mine, but don't have a clue.

And here was I, thinking: "gosh! she swaps and switches her banner photos beautifully! I expect she worked in IT."

On the up-side - orange does suit Hamish!

So true about website designing choices. It can be stressful. Your site looks great.

Looks fine, nice to have a change and it has a gentle softness about it but is not beige and boring because of that nice touch of orange.Enjoy your tea!

You meant this is a Blogger blog and yet you manage to keep changing the photo at the top? In fact, you have a photo at the top to start with?

I've just noticed The Cats' Own Blog and read a bit but it's freezing in this study and I must go and have a warm bath. How long has it been around? I must read more tomorrow! (When DO you get time to do your dusting? Oh of course, you don't - you have a Treasure.)

I like the layout and am always impressed by blogs which have customised banners. As for the orange, it might not be my favourite colour (I tend to think it goes back to one of my teachers who always wore orange lipstick, including on her teeth) but, as Vincent Van Gogh said, you can't have blue without it ....and yellow.
