Frozen fingers crossed

My sister is due to come to stay tomorrow, for a few days. This is in lieu of Christmas, when she will be abroad. Her train tickets have been booked for a while.

The fridge is full of food, the guest room is all cosily made up, the cats and dogs have been warned to expect much spoiling, and I am getting rather excited too - I haven't seen her since last December.

But.......... trains, buses and planes in both Glasgow and Edinburgh have stopped because of heavy snowfall and freezing conditions.

Maybe things will be better tomorrow.

Woke up to -10 this morning and hasn't got above -6 all day. Still loads of snow and our road not cleared... so I know how you feel.
Hope there is a break in the clouds allowing safe passage.

Difficult to type with crossed fingers - it would be a shame if she were to be delayed.

I'll keep my fingers firmly x-ed ( except , given the general iciness , when I'm cycling/walking to work,).
It's at times like this when Australia's summer version of Christmas makes much more sense .
Good Luck!

Oh dear - I hope she makes it!! Stuart phoned from his car (hands free!) a little while ago. He is crawling along the M9 at Stirling in a huge queue of traffic - he thinks there is an accident somewhere ahead of him ..... he was a decidedly unhappy bunny!!

When does this ever happen there. Is this like once in a 100 year snowfall?

I hope, I hope, i hope she gets to come.

Yes, well, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. It's pretty horrid today. All Edinburgh buses were off the road for several hours this afternoon.

Fingers crossed, though.

I hope your sister can find a way to travel through the snow and reaches you safely. Have a great time.

It is hard to imagine, being in Australia, sitting here with very few clothes and thinking about going out to garden in quite humid conditions. But traveling in the Northern Hemisphere in December is often fraught. I spent two nights on the floor of an American airport on the way to my son's for Christmas a couple of years ago. Hope your sister can get through. I have everything crossed for you!

I hope there is a way through for her. Some respite is forecast but it may not be enough for you further up.

Hello! Thanks for your lovely comment and visit. I love the name of your blog. I could definitely do with a bit of slow lane life right now.

Isn't that image of the UK amazing? I'm supposed to be going to Glasgow on Thursday evening. Hmm, we'll see.
