Lost and found

This post has been removed by the author; I am concerned that its subject, now a young man, may not have the same version of events as I have. 'Truth' is subjective, after all, and although I know my truth of the story as I experienced it, I would not wish to cause distress or offence to him or his relatives by leaving it in this blog. So out of respect to him and the beliefs he holds, the account that prompted so many of you to respond has been deleted.

Warmth , love and stability are vital if a child is to thrive and you provided that for these two little boys as long as you could .That they are now doing well is , in great part , thanks to you and their childminder and it's lovely to hear that they're in contact again .
Not knowing how they were must have been devastating .
I hope their mother has rebuilt her life and can enjoy her sons' success .

That was so lovely, my eyes filled with tears. You never know in life where or who you might touch. What impressions you'll leave. The significance of your message and CD was very much noticed - and now a new chapter begins.

How wonderful for you to connect with your peapods! Your CDs delivered the message of love and hope, and I'm so glad they touched these young men who could have so easily grown up to be indifferent and cynical.

Wonderful. I'm so happy for you and for the boys. They have never forgotten what a good friend you are.
By the way, was your sister able to get there yet?

This kind of love you are given when you are a child, especially if your home is filled with uncertainty and turmoil, stays with you forever...

What you gave, has now come back

Oh wow! It is clear that those early years are so important and even if the memories are hazy in conscious minds I think all the kindness and loving care is sometimes sort of stored in cells. Kindness, love, stability and support all help to mould small children into the adults they will become. Your efforts obviously paid off and helped them to weather the hard times. I have had a similar experience with a child who had a checquered life. She lived with me during the week from when she was 6 to 12 years old, spending weekends at her mother's. I too supported her mother who has a very disadvantaged life with all sorts of illness and drug problems. Earlier this year the girl decided she wanted to live permanently with her mum. I just hope that the care and experiences etc. she had here will help her to deal with whatever her life throws her in the future. Your story gives me hope.

Lovely that he did find the courage, after all that time, to turn up at your door. No doubt he was afraid he may be let down again. And soon all three of you can catch up!

How great that you're now able to fill in those gaps and how satisfying to know that your boys (well, certainly one of them) have paved a successful path through some significant challenges.

I just now read your story, Rachel, and what a heartwarmer it is...
Your words are so tender and filled with love; as a woman I feel it deep.
I am soo thrilled that a reunion took place, there is nothing like a sore that won't heal.
My love to you and to your new relationships, may it continue to grow and fill your days and years to come.
