Not so easy

Note to flower thieves: This is in my back yard, and requires more effort than you might wish to expend.

To damage or steal my new clematis, you would have to climb a high wall, terrify wall-mounted sunbathing cats, avoid lots of plants in recycling boxes, trip over the yard broom and the hose, and generally defend yourself from the ear-shattering yapping of a Yorkshire terrier who will then trigger the booming bark of a labrador who won't have a clue why she's barking, but will do it anyway, with enthusiasm.

At the moment, she's just keeping an eye on things, and helping with my sweeping-up.

The clematis was bought with my Euromillions Lottery win* of £6.90. I had to top it up a little, as it cost just under a tenner.

*Easy come, easy go with us spendthrifts....

Very pretty flowers. Love the little courtyard picture.

You could have invested the money, you could have saved it, you could have donated it to a worthy cause.... but I like your idea best!!

Anyway, who is more worthy of a lovely clematis than you and your guard dogs!

Show those thieves will you...

just hope they don't read the blog and know a treat or two is all that is needed to get inside the castle gates.

Good for you! It is beyond me how people could just take your flowers- it's vile.
Could the clematis be a Nelly Moser?
Like your wicker teepee- I have a similiar one which is host every year to volunteer Grandpa Ott's morning glories.
Happy Easter.

You won the Lottery ??!
I hope you don't let a win like that turn your head .

Wow. You won the lottery and you're still doing your own gardening. Good to know you're staying humble. :-p

Such a considerate homeowner to warn would-be thieves of the pitfalls of clematis thievery! I would love to see a video of the thief who missed the memo!

I hope you will remember your friends now that you have won such a tremendous sum ...... oh no, it wasn't £6.9 million!! We have several clematis (planted by the previous owner) which should start flowering soon.

I think that is a perfect way to spend the £6.90 (topped up a little). I don't buy Lottery tickets - perhaps I should start?

Very pretty and perfectly safe, too.
