Oh, the hours! the hours!

Yesterday: hours spent in getting to and from a house-viewing in Somerset.

Airport/planes: 8 tedious hours

Inside the house (twice; once to view, later to talk money): 1 hour 15 minutes

With friend Lizzie (having lunch, walking in the woods): 3 lovely hours

Driving hired car: 3 hours 30 minutes

If Easyjet had only updated their website's Flight Status page to reveal that the 7.10 a.m. flight was so delayed because the plane wouldn't even be reaching Newcastle airport to pick us up until 9 a.m. for the one-hour journey to Bristol, I and willing friend-taxi Lynn might not have had to get up at 5....

And the outcome of this very unbalanced day?

I don't know!

The house is owned by an estate agent, and has just gone on the market in the last few days. The vendor, who knew months ago that I was stalking it and planning a very costly trip down to view it, wants to think about whether or not to sell to the first viewer who makes an offer (me!) or to test the market.

She will Let Me Know.

(Blood pressure? What blood pressure?)

Mine has gone up to an alarming # just reading this.

Rather mean spirited of the seller.

Here's sending off wishes to the Universe for you.

That is cruelty on behalf of the vendor, poor you. I hope that the wait is short and the outcome is as you desire.

Very tricky. Been there too. On the one hand, good to be in first before someone else snaffles it, but keen early viewing persuades sellers that they should hold out for better offers. Good luck.

Fingers firmly crossed for you, dear!

She's a fool - or greedy, maybe she is waiting for you to up your offer. Beggars can't be choosers at the moment, with house selling; keep calm and stroke a cat.

It's a buyer's market at present so your vendor had better make up her mind quickly. Mind you, if the price goes down that would be advantageous to you. I hope she doesn't keep you hanging on too long.

Fingers crossed, but how brave to go for what you want and "just do it". I'm in awe. And a lot done in your long day.

yeh.... like Gretel....I'm already thinking she is going to try upping the price if you seem too eager....surely there are other houses around the area to look at as well? ....how can the first one you see be the best or the only? ..... I'd go down for a week or so and look at lots.....

Oh good grief. Fingers still crossed for you. Test the market indeed. I hope the vendor comes to her senses soon.

Oh how annoying! She knew that you were going all that way to see the house, so you were obviously serious about buying it. Fingers still crossed!

Crazy-making situation for you. That vendor has no heart. My fingers are crossed for you, too.

If it's the one you want, then I have everything crossed for you!
