Sniff...
Despite all your lovely vigour and enthusiasm, the jumping for joy was in vain. The vendor's builder delivered bad news on the property they were about to buy, and she has decided against it. She rang, sounding quite despondent, unable to believe how little choice there was for her. Renting isn't an option - too costly, and they'd be tied in for 6 months.
We have agreed to keep on as before, she and partner continuing to search for the house and land they need, me continuing to hope that they find something soon, but meanwhile, time passes, and I (and ever-helpful Lizzie!) have to look elsewhere too.
I could sit down and have a little blub, but I won't; instead, propped up with cushions, I am going to busy myself contacting estate agents for alternative properties that might meet my needs as the hoped-for house did*.
Newly added to the top of the list will be 'No Chain'.....
* in today's order:
No onward chain
Light and airy
Quiet safe road for animals
Garden
Private but not isolated
View
Not oil-fired heating - I'm no millionaire
Doesn't seem like much to ask, does it? But it is.....

Buggeration! Surely they could rent somewhere? Keeping everything crossed my dear...
Oh, so sorry to hear this. No, you are not asking too much; hold on to your wish list... it sounds perfect for you and your animals.
Ahhh, rotten luck. You're doing the right thing, looking elsewhere. Fingers and toes ever more tightly crossed for you . . .
ps; hope your back is feeling easier. Bad backs are a bugger, aren't they?
Oh no! This really does seem tough on you. Am willing there to be something special for you. (You might like to add 'broadband' to your list. Where my brother lives, about 10 miles from me, but in a little valley, he has an appalling service, and we couldn't bear you to be out of touch!)
Not fair! I came here hoping to find all was going swimmingly. The house for you is out there somewhere. I am busy keeping the faith for you.
hahahha.... that is perfect! I just said "bugger it" out loud and came to write it...and Toffee beat me to it! Maybe you could look for property for the vendor to look at...so she could move out.... lol.....
Oh, I'm sorry. It's dreadful that they're not going to rent and let you buy theirs. I really feel for you.
Hmm, they might have to get imaginative, stay with friends or relatives?? They won't find buyers who can wait indefinitely for them. Good for you staying upbeat, maybe you will find a fab different place, keep that forward momentum! xx
Oh no Rachel... What a disappointment ( again).
Getting ready to re-cross my fingers as you start searching for somewhere else!
That is a very modest list of requirememnts ..... no bespoke kitchen (with Aga), spa bath (in avocado, I think), shower with multiple jets (that's to get Flossie clean after a muddy walk) Of course you should have log-burning stove - I'm sure you could train Flossie to bring home even bigger sticks, to put in the log pile!!
Thinking of you, heartily endorsing what Toffeapple and BumbleVee said, and keeping fingers and toes crossed.
You will get there, I know you will.

Time to bring in Kirstie and Phil?
Oh gah. Meanwhile, no one buys my mum's flat and she descends into the slough of despond...
Kirstie and Phil, now that's an idea...

oh my god !! should this be a TV show ?? an endless tennis match perhaps. So ... always remember & always believe dear NuT friends, that every thing happens for a reason - this can only mean one thing - that a better, more suitable, more loveable house awaits the arrival of the Team.
much love, les Gang
Oh no! I know you must be terribly disappointed. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
I am a real estate agent in Australa. I don't quite get what is happening.
Does chain mean a domino effect and you are waiting for others to sell??
Good luck.

Can't understand her reluctance to rent. Husband and I did post-sale, and it becomes something in your favour when putting in an offer further on, ie no house to sell, and it gives a better amount of time to look around. All I can think of is that she must have heaps of stuff to put into storage. I agree with Belinda- she won't find a buyer who will wait indefinitely.
If for some reason you have to consider renting Rachel, it's not a bad idea.
What a sod on both counts...
Rats...sorry to hear that. Good luck in the search and I hope you feel better soon.
