Half time?
A game of two halves.... Not just a cliche often heard in football commentary, it seems apt for my nerve-shredding house situation too.
The sale of my house seems to be moving along nicely; the survey findings were accepted in full, no quibbling, and the buyer's solicitor has been instructed to proceed. I feel less anxious now about the selling bit.
Buying is another matter. The vendors have found only one property that they like (odd, isn't it, how we all call houses, even our beloved family homes, a 'property' nowadays?), and that's the one with the water supply problems - and the little matter of their offer being refused.
They don't want to move and rent, and neither do I.
I worry that they may change their minds, and decide to wait till their perfect property comes along. Worry is my default position.
Maybe it's just half time, and we need to retire to the sidelines and eat quartered oranges.....

......or maybe keep looking Rachel?
There will be other houses out there that would be a wonderful home for you and the animals. We have been disappointed before, but it has ended up that the house we eventually bought was even better than the one we lost.
In the meantime, enjoy your oranges!
A horrible position to be in. We are all rooting for you!
Eating oranges is a better option than nibbling nails . . .
If you need a distraction, I can recommend a visit to the Honey Farm - free to get in, lots of lovely things to see and buy - a 'sweet' diversion from your house moving woes!
Keep looking? Good advice. You will be doing something positive and not allow yourself to fall into the horrid waiting game/ victim role. Been there, hate it.
Of course we're all nervous for you. Where are you moving? Maybe i can do a web search.
xo jane
The perfect "property" will come along. Fingers are crossed here!
Stay positive, keep positive and think positive Rachel for all will work out just as it is meant to do!
I'd recommend you keep looking. When I bought this place it was only because I could not find anything suitable in the town down the road where I really wanted to live. Time has shown this house to be exactly what I needed. I had no way of knowing I'd need a place like this but here I am and it's almost perfect (except for the drywall I still need to replace and the porch I need to paint).
Never mind about quartered oranges ! Something stronger is required .... go round and insist that Roger goes off and buys a couple more Mars bars . Remind him that he still owes you some chocolate encased glucose .
Waiting is horrid . But it's a buyer's market now , I should have thought , and there are dozens of lovely gardens out there just waiting for you . And you definitely have the flair to make any house warm and comfortable .
Oh gosh, no wonder they say moving is up there with divorce and bereavemnet in stress levels. Do hope all goes well this time round, fingers crossed for you x Penny
Keep your eye roving! We are all on tenter-hooks for you, but it can't but help to check out suitable properties as they come on the market, even if it is just online?? SO pleased your sale is progressing, whoop! x
When I bought my house, the father of the person selling it to me said his next move would be to his grave. That's how much he enjoyed the moving experience. Here is the US, it is definitely a buyer's market, and now that you have your buyer, surely the tables have turned in your favor. Perhaps you're more than half way there.
Changing houses is a nerve-wracking time for me, too. You are making good progress, though. Hang in there and concentrate on the good things (like the oranges). You know we are all pulling for you.
Oh I an crossing and crossing, just breathe slowly, the end (or beginning) is surely in sight.
Such a tense time for you, have a little tipple with your half time oranges.
maybe the vendor of the house you like could be the one to move and rent? if not, keep looking. and reconsider renting. it's not long since you decided to move this year, come what may.
...only if the quartered oranges have, like, vodka injected into them :)
It's definitely a buyer's market! Not that the whole process isn't completely nerve-wracking . . .
I'm sending juicy good luck wishes your way. xx
