All quiet on the South-Western front?

Susan asked if things were ok, as my blog seemed quiet.

Well, if you don't count my blog or the cats - such slackers! - quiet it certainly isn't. But what to tell you?

It's all mess, and boxes, and trips to the tip (modern name The Recycling Centre), and an ongoing and so far fruitless search for the other landline phones, packed at the last minute, and the shifting of furniture from one room to another, and the discovery that the knotty pine wardrobes wouldn't fit under the landing ceiling to be moved elsewhere and had to be dismantled in situ, and the dropping of one of the doors on my ankle, now a huge puffy fluid-filled pudding, and the getting rid recycling of at least six big bully fuschias to a friend's garden where they won't dominate the landscape and annoy the life out of me every time I see them, and frogs, and weeding, and cleaning windows, and the Lovely Son and girlfriend visiting, and constant meals, and tiredness beyond a joke.

And sometimes a trip out with Lizzie where I am struck wordless by the sheer beauty of it all.....

When I have time, and the place is less of a pigsty, I'll post pictures of my cottage - at least the bits that aren't piled high with half-emptied boxes and heaps of homeless items.

Gosh, those photos, what stunning places. Your eyes must be soaking up all the beauty in the landscape around you, are you pinching yourself you have really done it, or do all the boxes and mess make it feel more than real enough?! x

When we first came down here - to the Welsh Marches from Stockport - we had to keep pinching ourselves to remind us that We Really Were Here and THIS WAS OURS!!! Eeek. etc. I still look out and think how wonderful it is and how lucky I am. I've just been on the field shutting in the poultry and OK, I stood in the 'mizzle' but the air was fresh and clean and I could hear owls. Fab, fab, fab.

You're doing so well. My youngest daughter and fiance are exhausted moving from one London postcode to another with no animals. They haven't your wonderful vistas - they would love the glorious green that you have. Keep smiling - and thank goodness you have friends on hand to keep up your spirits:-)

The view beyond the thatched cottage is idyllic - a feast for the eyes.

At least you can refresh yourself with green vistas and chocolate box cottages. It is all very beautiful.

Blimey,Rachel, the Dene and environs have great walks but nothing to match these views. Stunning. Not a wheely bin or burned out seat in view. I only hope your ankle is better so that you can go on enjoying them. xxx from Bacteria Gardens
