But busy nonetheless. Here's a round up, with pictures, to show you that I'm not a complete slacker, despite the marked lack of blogging, and the festering heap of ironing sitting in the midst of an un-hoovered house.
Summer is a-flyin' fast....
The garden tumbles about untidily.
Some people don't mind.
So much seen, done, enjoyed in recent weeks!
Wonderful, funny, entertaining, cheerful, utterly loveable Australian visitors. Here after some weeks in Italy and France, pausing to draw breath before the London Olympics and various triathlons.....
Loved helping out, took it very seriously...
Adored the animals, who reciprocated in full.
Turned toast into a banana-and-Nutella art form....
Were good at keeping themselves amused, indoors
or outdoors.
I loved having children in the house, and wanted to keep them for ever.
Serene parents relaxed.
Perhaps too serenely. ("We've got loads of photos of Dad like that!" said the children....)
Got to know the neighbourhood; watched badgers, charmed the neighbours.
But eventually, sadly, with much hugging of cats, dogs and us, had to leave.
We miss them badly.
But we console ourselves with days out. The Gardener is often rained off work (he says) and has to go out with me instead. Even if I wasn't intending to go out. The ironing mountain remains mountainous.
Apple store, Exeter; better than ironing.
Porlock Country Fair; better than hoovering.
Country cemeteries; unusual rules.
Little tin church on a hillside overlooking the sea; simple, rather sweet, interior.
Lovely place for Sunday lunch in the garden.
Dusk walks with Flossie.
Visiting the glorious Lutyens/Jekyll gardens at Hestercombe.
So there's much still to do! We go on holiday at the end of the month; we have a beloved street auntie from Newcastle coming to house-sit. Perhaps I should hoover. Some of that ironing mountain includes holiday clothes, so I suppose I must tackle it too.
Things may become a bit busier.
But this game - round the corner from my house - goes very slowly, in eternal summer....
And just for today, blogging triumphs over housework.
Nice to be back.

Oh pouff, ironing! Much better to go out and take glorious pictures!
You could do blog owner approval instead...just a thought!
Great to have you back, who cares about wrinkled clothes.
Good to have you back! I think Dad is just conserving energy for when his three daughters are dating age. He will likely need it.
How lovely to have had Australian visitors during the Olympics not that you wre gloating of course!
A wonderful post. You certainly HAVE been busy!
So much for a gentler pace of life!
Lovely to catch up with you and the ironing can be done on a rainy day (or never). Looks as if everyone has a great time and photos great!
Thanks for sharing, hugs to Flossie and the kitties and enjoy your holiday!
Wow, that was a long post. Sounds like you've been having a lovely time.
The tin church made me think of my first time in the west country aged six, when some friends took me with them on holiday to Dorset and we stayed in what was called 'the tin shack'. I've never seen another building like that but had read about a couple of churches. There's one near me somewhere, perhaps this was it?
Lovely post, I really missed you !!!
Another blogger returning from the Silent Hills.Welcome back!
And I spy a jar of Vegemite in your kitchen!
Nice to see Hamish out and about, too.
Sounds as though you are having a wonderful summer!
Lovely photos of places and people. I`m sure your visitors had a fantastic time with you.
You are happy and busy - so glad for you - it is all we need to know.
Wonder where the holiday will be?
You've come a long way baby -:)
And a holiday to boot?
Excellent.

Enjoy the summer while you can, make lovely memories. I don't know anybody with happy memories of 'a pile of ironing I once tackled'.
Lovely to have you back. MIssed your tales of animals and life. Great pics of Hestercombe. x

Welcome home! (Ok, I know you were home but this is your second home.)
A very well spent summer so far !
P.S. A large ironing pile is a sure sign of someone with the right sense of priorities.
There used to be a tin chapel here but it was knocked down a few years ago and two houses built instead. My ironing is also festering if there's comfort in solidarity?
It seems like a good way to spend the summer, far better than ironing. Loved the cricket match! Good to see you back too.
Your pictures are lovely. Keep going with the camera. I love Hestercombe, we've been several times. We have some friends who live in West Monkton just up the road from the gardens.
