After our very little scare with our very little brook the other night, I was catapulted abruptly into a harsher view of flooding while watching the news tonight.
Those poor people of St Asaph and other flooded towns, their homes wrecked and their lives turned upside down; my heart goes out to them.
Wet feet seem paltry in comparison.

My heart goes out to them, too. What sad news.
It's absolutely dreadful Rachel. So frightening, the power of nature.
flooding is just awful...particularly in the cold months.
True, wet feet seem mild, still it's worrisome to know you're vulnerable.
And here in North Carolina, we're having one of the driest Novembers on record, although I doubt anyone here would want to trade.
I've read that this is symptomatic of global warming - the warmer the air is, the more moisture it will hold. So, more rain for the UK, stronger hurricanes for the US, etc. I guess we need to prepare for the new normal.
Thant's awful. So many terrible floods these days...
Indeed, horrible. Frightening how these floods seem to be ever more frequent.
I guess we have always been at the mercy of mother nature.
But now we know it.
and it's scary.

This is becoming a common thing now.. places here in new Brunswick that have never flooded before have been wrecked in recent years.. in one area, our provincial Gov't are now moving about 20 houses to a safer zone, although other areas had no such help.
The news here in the US has stated there have been several deaths associated with the flood...just tragic. Is there any long range forecast that indicates when it will end?
I don't know how people manage to cope with the disaster that is flooding. I do hope that they are safe.
Lots of the St Asaph properties appear relatively new, and there have been others today, built on a flood plain. I really don't understand how this is ever allowed - stupidity on the part of the planners probably! Even flooding of older properties is often due to work done downstream which has hampered the flow of water.
Nature will always win in the end!
Good to know you are ok.
