Quiet time

Nothing much is happening on the surface. Behind the scenes, the solicitors are busy doing their solicitory thing; surveyors will come next.

Meanwhile, I'm packing, and staying positive, and hoping that the tenants in the house I'm buying will get moved - as they themselves hope to do - earlier than their notice period says they must.

Next month I will visit the house again, armed with tape measures and notebook, camera and a clear head, and prepare the way.

For today, though, I have a new book, and a cupful of sweet dark cherries, and life is good.

Good things to take your mind off it, that's the ticket!
I always try to have an unread book for those times when I need to distract myself.

Love cherries. But not packing. We generally just ram it into boxes and go. Never broken a thing. Though the professionals who moved us to Moscow broke the only two special reminders I took with me.

Oh how I love quiet times!! I am so glad you find the time to do just that; eating a bowl of cherries along with reading a good book.

Which proves "Life is just a bowl of cherries"!

"Armed with a clear head." I like it. Yours or someone else's?

Don't remind me of packing up...all those boxes...after 18 months in storage our contents were not really that important after all (we kept them nonetheless).

The book is good - I 'read' it as an audio book and found it un-switch-off-able.

At last . A well-deserved rest ..... and with cherries , couldn't be better .

That's it, keep positive. More reading and more cherries are in order I think.

When last moving, I found that packing away the non-day-to-day things was quite easy - into boxes marked 'lounge', 'bedroom1', 'kitchen' etc.

It was the 'second pack' of more used stuff just before the actual move that was much more difficult - and nine tenths of these went into mixed boxes marked 'misc.'. Trust you will be better organised than I was!

Exciting times - I still have fingers crossed that all will continue to run smoothly.

Enjoy this lull before the excitement really begins! I hope all is going well behind the scenes.

No moving in our future, but there are new books and sweet cherries on the table. Two out of three is just fine. Good luck! :)

As you're not busy, could you recommend a holiday read for me? I haven't got time to think about my holiday, for fretting about the son stranded in Turkey by the collapsed airline and the other son gadding about France in an open-topped car with a driver whose name escaped him as he departed.
