Spotted

Autumn time.

This weekend has seen an end-of-season steam train extravaganza for the West Somerset Railway.

Needing to practise my photography, I agreed to go out with The Gardener, who isn't a train spotter really, but loves an opportunity to take photos of big boys toys all things mechanical. It would make a change from country churches, and as the railway line runs along the coastline, Flossie could come too and lark about on the beaches.

Except that she seemed to be a magnet for these 9-month-old pug pups.

"Go away!"

"Go away!"

"Go AWAY!"

But the puppies wouldn't go away; they had fallen in love with this big dog, and clung to her like glue.

Eventually, their breathless owner managed to catch them, scoop them up, and roll his eyes at us falling over with laughter; Flossie could then get on with her larking about.

And the trains came in.

And went out.

Flossie waited. Patient girl....

And we managed to see a country church as well.

Normal service has resumed.

Glad to see that you are out and about again, and having fun with the Gardener (and Flossie). It has been a glorious, bright autumn day here .... and chilly enough to light the stove!

I love that railway, it is just so cosy with such pretty views.

The church had proper fruit and veg for Harvest Festival, what a treat.

What a lovely outing, and with a country church too!
(Poor Flossy having to deal with overenthusiastic fans... Fame is so demanding.)

So glad you are out and about again - which must mean you are feeling better.

The church decked out for harvest festival reminds me of the church where I married exactly 37 years ago. No need for fancy wedding flowers, we had turnips, chrysanths and cabbages - and from my parents point of view no florists bill.

Everything in your photos looks so inviting. The train, the station, the train man, the church... just delightful. The pugs are adorable. Poor Flossie, she can't help it if she has charisma. It looks like a wonderful outing for everyone!

That was quite the outing, wasn't it!
Something for everyone on that day. Funny that the little pugs imprinted on Flossie! She's such a good girl.

Did you have a thermos in one anorak pocket and a big wad of sandwiches in the other ? If not , you weren't a true train spotter , I'm afraid but a mere dilettante ... But the photos make up for it .
Poor Flossie and her "groupies" !!

Flossie is so well behaved, I must say. Boo would not have waited so patiently and that bench would have been dragged along the platform.

What a perfect day out. Lovely old trains and their happy "enthusiasts", followed by a walk on the beach and a visit to a country church.

Loved the walk on the beach. It's been such great weather this weekend hasn't it?

My husband had shingles last year, and it did take a while, so I'm glad you're feeling better. Jessica.

I love hearing the West Somerset Railway trains hooting their way around the countryside when I'm out and about, or seeing their steam rising above the trees in the distance.

Those pugs are hilarious.
