Saturday morning

Kitchen table with rule-defying cat.

There's a message in there somewhere.

Oh, there it is.

I hope nobody gave you this as a hint!

That's ironic juxtapositioning if I ever saw it. And that cat seems to know it, too.

Millie's going to refresh her knowledge of Feng Shui . She seems to recall that there are references to the placement of cat bowls in there somewhere .....

Feng shui!?! I read one of those books once. It advised sleeping upside down facing north with a bowl of elephant dung in the corner opposite the door. I think.
Impossible in this house, I'm afraid, there is no corner opposite the door.

Well, don't clear away Millie!

Yes, it certainly was a hint! I was given this book for Christmas once, and by Boxing Day night had removed the hideous pine planks that had served as messy bookshelves for years, tidied everything away, and have had a lovely alcove ever since.

Whether or not one believes in feng shui, I know that I get terribly oppressed by my clutter. But clearing it has to be a regular discipline, which is why it doesn't work so well for me! I have that terrible affliction known as "This might come in handy some day"....

Oh! I see you have a kitty that likes to visit you at your kitchen table too!!!! Oliver thinks he owns mine! Good luck with the decluttering! At my house, it's a lost cause, Rachel!

Ay yes. I think there's a similar book/dream here. It's called Bye Bye Pigsty!

That's a cat who's about to clear it all using only Feng Shui, paws and a tail.

I borrowed a book like that from the library once, but lost it under a pile of scattered books. When it resurfaced even the title made me feel guilty, as if the overdue notice wasn't bad enough.Love the vase of beautiful flowers on your table, and Millie?... well that goes without saying!

Lovely photo - looks a bit like Westminster Bridge. Is that the Houses of Parliament in the mist? Or am I looking through southern tinted specs?

PP: you certainly are! It's Armstrong Bridge over Jesmond Dene, and part of our regular walks. The church is Holy Trinity. If I were more disciplined about labels, you could have found lots of posts with the Dene in them. Maybe I should de-clutter and reorganise my blog too!

And there was me thinking it was all coal dust and flat caps! Do we need passports to get that far north?

Good to know prejudice is alive and well ... and living down south.

Is that bridge in the picture above in Perthshire? Looks just like a bridge I saw across the River Tay...

Wow, you get to keep fresh flowers in the house? My cats think they make a lovely snack so I have to leave my flowers in the garden.
I just love reading your blog and enjoying the beautiful photos you post. Thanks

I have that book! Reading about decluttering is such a great way to procrastinate, but this book actually inspired me to do something about it. But as you say, it's an ongoing thing, unfortunately we cannot rest on our laurels for long!

(My word verification is anish, which looks remarkably like Hamish.)
