The exercise yard

Into the darkened sitting room this morning. The cage was left open during the night to give James the chance to explore while everyone was locked out. He'd spent all of yesterday glued to a hot water bottle.

No sign of him at first...

Oh, there he is. There are signs of exploration round the room, a couple of things knocked over, but he seems content in the climbing frame's hidey-hole.

A cosy den. Cats are so good at finding places in which to be comfy.

See? He does have feet. His sharply-pointed tail isn't on display yet.

Good morning, James! I'm opening the curtains now; don't be alarmed. Here are toys, and breakfast.

Distinctly underwhelmed by toys.

A little snooze after breakfast with a fresh hot water bottle will do nicely, though.

Here comes the usurped one. First he gathers his thoughts, thinks of what he's going to say,

and says it. His meaning is unmistakeable.

Never heard such shocking language.

We didn't swear like that when we lived in the woods!

That looked remarkably like the Far Cough language that my rescue cat speaks.

James looks beautiful, and I love the markings. Hope he and Scooter can swap misery memoirs soon about their life before your house.

Your photos always make me smile. You capture the essence of "cat-ness" so well. James is adorable.

"Far Cough"! That made me laugh. And of course, that's exactly what it means.....

Adorable but stubborn James is becoming welded to that microwaveable hot water bottle; I might have to substitute it for an ice pack if I want him ever to emerge from his hidey-hole!

Poor James. with not even Scooter liking him. I can't think why, he is such a lovely cat.

lethe, cats are brutal to each other. Once they all get used to him, James will become one of the gang, but in the meantime, he has to be told very clearly that he's an interloper and will be lowest in the pecking order if he's allowed into it.... Millie hated Scooter at first too!

Where did he learn language like THAT, I wonder?
